Meysam Rajani accepted to Tufts with 90% scholarship!

Meysam Rajani is now enrolled at Tufts University in Medford Massachusetts on a 90% scholarship for 4 years.  He is still undecided as to what career he will be pursuing but is looking into the fields of Mathematics and Economics as a possible choice.

"In my two years at IST, Mr Rustad was not just a counselor to me, but also a friend, a teacher and an adviser. He helped me assess further educational opportunities outside Tanzania, he assisted me in choosing institutions, advised me on my career choices and off course, helped me get through the long application process. His concern towards his students was extraordinary and I appreciate his efforts to get me where I am today, with utmost gratitude. I am glad to hear that he will be helping out other aspiring students in our country and would urge students to consult him"

Read his Optional Essay for Tufts here or find it on the Tufts website.  This essay was chosen to be featured on the Tufts website as a top student essay this year (2010).  Congratulations Meysam!

Krisztina Chogo accepted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford!!

How many students find themselves in a position where they have to choose between acceptance from Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Princeton Universities?  Very few, but Krisztina Chogo (Graduate of Haven of Peace and Form 4 leaver from Isamilo International School, Mwanza) faced that decision in 2010.

Here she is pictured with Paul Kassell, Secondary Principal of Haven of Peace Academy, recieving the Award for Academic Excellence in her class of 2010.

She says, "Mr. Rustad was a huge help for me through the application process to Harvard.  I'm excited that he will continue to work with students on a wider scale now through TanSAO."

 IST Graduates at Stanford University

International School of Tanganyika graduates currently studying at the Stanford University who have been counselled through the support of Mr. Rustad (Director of Counseling at TanSAO).

"He's helped me to grow to become a respectable young lady, ready to face whatever challenges life may bring.  He believed in me when I couldn't do it for myself; he saw the potential in me and showed the way.  I'm proud to be a Cardinal today, owed all to him.  Nothing can compare to Mr. Rustad's kindness."

Mr. Rustad with some of his scholarship students from Tanzania.

"Mr Rustad is a very committed and caring teacher who always treated his students with equal respect and empathy.  He always facilitated us in getting the most from our student lives through his life skills and college counseling sessions.  He was also a great mentor to have and a person we could speak to at any time concerning any hardships we faced as students.  He is a person to whom I owe a great deal of gratitude and respect simply because he brought out the best in us."
